7 Standout College Football Players from the 2022 Season

There is no sport more exciting than college football. Watching young players live out their dream with millions of fans watching will always be a joy. These are seven standout players from the 2022 college football season.

1- C.J. Stroud, QB, Ohio State University

Nobody is having a better year in college football than C.J. Stroud. The Ohio State quarterback leads the country with 24 passing touchdowns and a near-perfect 94.8 QBR. His passing numbers would be even more impressive if the team played more competitive games. Stroud is the clear favorite for the Heisman Trophy among every major sports site.

2- Will Rogers, QB, Mississippi State University

Will Rogers has been overshadowed by some of the bigger-named quarterbacks in the SEC. Still, Rogers is actually having the best season in the conference. He leads the country with 2,110 passing yards. Rogers is also second in the sport with 22 passing touchdowns. These impressive stats have been put up without turning the ball over. He has only thrown three interceptions despite playing tough defenses every week.

3- Marvin Harrison Jr., WR, Ohio State University

Big things will always be expected from a player when they are the son of an NFL Hall of Famer. Marvin Harrison Jr. has consistently shown he can handle this pressure by making big plays on a weekly basis. He currently tops all college football receivers with nine touchdowns. Harrison is only a sophomore, so he is still far from reaching his peak.

4- Blake Corum, RB, The University of Michigan

Blake Corum is the only non-QB with a legitimate shot at winning the Heisman this year. Corum has completely carried the Michigan offense from the running back position. The team simply would not be 6-0 right now without Corum. His 735 rushing yards rank fourth in the country. He is also second with 11 rushing touchdowns.

5- Israel Abanikanda, RB, The University of Pittsburgh

After two pedestrian years at Pittsburgh, Israel Abanikanda is having a monster season with the Panthers in 2022. He has 830 rushing yards and currently leads the country with 12 rushing touchdowns. These numbers got a considerable boost after Abanikanda rushed for 320 yards and six touchdowns against Virginia Tech last weekend.

6- Drew Sanders, LB, The University of Arkansas

There are a lot of great defensive players in the SEC, but none of them are having a better year than Drew Sanders. After barely touching the field the last two years, Sanders is second in the country with 6.5 sacks. Sanders is among the top performers in tackles and forced fumbles. His three pass deflections prove he can even perform in coverage.

7- Clark Phillips III, CB, The University of Utah

It is rare to find a true shutdown cornerback in college football, but that is exactly what Clark Phillips III is right now. He currently has five interceptions that have been returned for 137 yards and two touchdowns. All three of these stats lead the nation. Completing a pass against Phillips III is a huge accomplishment right now for opposing quarters, which is why the shutdown cornerback only has seven solo tackles.
