There are many aspects of a hotel that help the customer determine their opinion of their experience. These include room cleanliness, quality of customer service, and the speed of the hotel’s internet connection. However, there are four in-room items that also play an important role in determining how satisfied guests are with their stay. Let’s look at them and how their quality can be improved to ensure the best possible guest experience.
1- The Coffee Maker
Not all guests drink coffee or will use the coffee maker but, for those who do, it’s very important. The coffee maker doesn’t have to be brand new or have many expensive features but it needs to work well. It should also come with good coffee, either a local brew or a common brand.
It’s also a good idea to have tea bags or, depending on the season and climate, hot chocolate mix. If the coffee machine is old or doesn’t work well, customers will almost certainly have a negative opinion of their stay.
2- Towels
Another essential hotel item that’s often overlooked is the bathroom towels. Every hotelier knows that every bathroom needs towels but sometimes these towels can get worn down or stained over time, which customers aren’t likely to ignore. If the ends are starting to fray or they look old, they should be replaced.
It’s also important to have towels of different sizes. For the optimal guest experience, you’ll want bath towels of at least two sizes. There should also be an adequate supply of hand towels, as multiple guests drying their hands on the same towel can lead to cross-contamination.
3- Toiletries
The quality of toiletries does not go unnoticed by your guests. This doesn’t mean you have to spend a lot of money to import fancy European soaps to impress them, but it does mean that if the bottles look cheap or important items are missing, guests aren’t likely to be happy.
It’s also always a good idea to have some more expensive toiletries for sale at the front desk for guests who might have left them at home. Toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, razors, and other items for sale can increase customer satisfaction while also turning you a profit.
4- Bedsheets
Bedsheets are tricky because customers generally don’t notice them unless there’s a problem. As long as they are free of stains and are in good condition, customers should be happy with them. They should also be washed and dried on a high heat setting to make sure they aren’t carrying bed bugs. Customers will also appreciate a sheet with a higher thread count, as they’re much softer.
These four items are an essential part of the guest experience and have the ability to make or break the guest experience. By ensuring the coffee maker works well, adequate towels and toiletries are available, and all bedsheets are free of stains, your customers will be happier and likely to leave positive reviews. It might seem like a pricy investment to make on the front end, but it will be worth it when guest numbers start to increase.
